INFRASTRUCTURE & FACILITIES
The sprawling college campus at Vivek Vihar is spread over an area of over 10 Acres which includes 3939 sq. metres of built up area & 5.2 acres of open space for garden and sports facilities. The teaching- learning process is facilitated in 61 class rooms, nine specialized laboratories(2 for foodtech, 5 computer labs with high speed Internet connectivity, 2 psychology labs and 1newly added chemistry/research lab , 2 seminar rooms with ICT facilities , an auditorium with seating capacity of 650 .and a fully automated library. The entire college campus is Wi-Fi enabled. The college has a synthetic track (200 mts.), the first of its kind in Delhi University. The college also provides residential facilities for the Principal, teaching faculty and non teaching staff
1.Facilities for academic activities:
1.1.CLASSROOMS – The college has 61 spacious, well lit classrooms. Large windows allow for good ventilation. There are 25 classrooms ICT enabled with projectors for enabling the use of audio-visual mediums of teaching. All Classrooms are equipped with black or white boards.
1.2.Computer Labs – The College provides a well equipped Computer and Statistics laboratory for students to carry out their innovative and scientific experiments. There are four labs within the college with 151 computers, and Internet facilities for the students and teachers. All the apparatus and PCs are upgraded to meet the requirements of changing technology and the University syllabi. The College wants all its students to be conversant with modern learning aids. The entire college campus is Wi-Fi enabled.
1.3. Home science lab – college has applied for the new course which is home science .So in 2022 college will introduce home science courses as well.
1.4. Psychology Lab – The college has two Psychology Laboratory The objective of the Laboratory is to serve as an interface between the theory-praxis distances. It is well equipped with the traditional apparatus like tachistoscope, memory drum, electronic memory apparatus, Muller-Lyer apparatus etc. to conduct experiments in the area of perception, attention, learning, memory, etc. A range of psychological tests and assessment techniques are also available in the laboratory. These include intelligence tests, personality tests, aptitude tests, attitude and values scales, tests on relationships, coping resources, etc. Workshops and experimental exercises are organised at regular intervals by the Applied Psychology faculty. The laboratory also has audio-visual aids like an LCD projector to facilitate lectures and talks. There is a state of the art. Bio Pac Apparatus for neuropsychological assessment and research.
Two extensions of the main psychology lab include the Bio-psychology Lab and the Computer Lab consisting of seven computers, where experiments are conducted, and it also provides facilities for research work. There is a Department Library which is a reader’s delight with a collection of classic and other editions of books on psychology.
1.5. Food Technology Lab – The college has two Food Technology The Department of Food Technology and Home Science have two main labs and the home science wing is under construction. The Department has well developed infrastructure. There is a cooking lab with all requisite cooking equipment. Many bakery, canned and dehydrated products are prepared by students and sold by putting up a bakery and processed food products stall which is a part of their curriculum. The departmental library has reference books, project reports and product development literature with computers and internet facilities for the faculty and students.
The analytical lab has sophisticated instrumentation facilities for students. Some of the Key instruments are: moisturometer, vacuum oven, Brookfield viscometer, penetrometer, Soxhlet unit, bakery ware and designing apparatus. The lab has two laboratory staff currently consisting of an Assistant and an Attendant
1.6. English Language Lab- The language lab was established to facilitate classes for UGC approved short term courses and student learning programmes on language/communication skills. It was set up by utilising funds received from UGC; the lab is equipped with facilities such as laptop, projector, sound system, printer and books on grammar, language, communication etc.
1.7. Music Room is equipped with a variety of instruments to facilitate the students in their practical work and hence equip them with skills of better coordination with different instruments. In music rooms students are taught classical ragas and traditional compositions with improvisation. The students learn Hindustani vocal music and get a chance to perform at various college and inter-college functions.The music instruments used by the College are: Harmonium , Veena, Hammar, Tabla, Kartal, Speaker, C.D. Player Manjeera, Electronic Tabla, Electronic Tanpura etc.
1.8. Seminar Room college has 2 seminar rooms. This air-conditioned facility can accommodate up to 50-60 students and 150 students .Both are frequently used for seminars, talks and lectures by external professionals. It has an LCD projector and is also used for screening film shows by the Film Society of the college and for culture activities
1.9. College Library is well-stocked and fully Computerized using LSEase software. It has approximately 65000 Books covering almost all aspects of Arts, Commerce, Humanities, Science and even for Pleasure Reading and motivation. It regularly subscribes to about 47 Periodicals including 10 daily newspapers in Hindi and English. Library is wifi enabled and Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) is available in the library. The library has a comfortable Reading Room spread over 3 Floors with sitting capacity of 180 users. It also has a separate section called faculty lounge to provide faculty to do their research work. The library also has a reference section and Book Bank Section consisting of core textbooks, which are issued to deserving students for the complete semester. The scheme is opened twice in an academic calendar.
Various Services offered by the library are circulation, consultation, reference, inter library loan, access to e-resources and online support to encourage teaching – learning process. Access to e-resources is through DULS, NList, and Delnet. Millions of e-resources are accessible remotely to the faculty as well as students through them.

1.10. Medical room and counseling room The College has a well-equipped medical room with 1 bed. First aid facilities, a wheel chair and a blood pressure machine are available in this medical room. A counsellor is available to take care of the mental health of students. Counsellor Dr.mana vohra has been engaged for the students. She is available in College twice in a week.
2.Facilities for sports activities
The college includes a large playground(Outdoor). The college has a 200 meters Synthetic Athletic Track in March, 2011 .Now the college has the facility of hockey Turf mini Hockey ground.Intensive training is imparted under expert guidance. Each year, students of Vivekananda College achieve notable distinctions, and many of them are selected for All India Inter- University and National tournaments. Facilities are provided :- Outdoor Athletics(track) Hockey turf badminton ,baseball ,netball ,Archery ,handball. Indoor Indoor gymnasium for welfare of the students.but there is no yoga centre but a fully equipped Indoor gymnasium.
2.1 Sports room and gym – college has one sports room cum gym for the welfare of sports students.

- Facilities for cultural activities
3.1 Vivekananda Auditorium has a seating capacity of 650. It is fully air-conditioned and its light and sound system are currently being revamped. The Auditorium hosts various academic and cultural events of the college and east Delhi community. It also encourages well-known cultural groups to hold their programmes for the benefit of the students and community.
3.2 Seminar Room(sharda hall)This air-conditioned facility can accommodate up to 150 students .which is frequently used for seminars, talks and lectures by external professionals. It has an LCD projector and is also used for screening film shows by the Film Society of the college and for culture activities
3.3 Music Room – music room is used as mini concert hall for organising inter- class music competition, baithak type of siirees and for spic macay .it can accomodate around 50-60 students.
3.4 Open stage – college has open stage facility for culture activities as well.Spacious place where many student can perform and can accommodate large audience from three sides.
